Where: A large apartment in the prestigious center of St. Petersburg, home to over fifteen people. Parts of the apartment are under the formal protection of the government.

What: A view of the communal kitchen. Tables, shelves, stoves, sinks. In the background is a view of a small space in front of the door to the back staircase (the service staircase). Two chairs are meant for smokers.

The white lines on the wall by the sink are drawn with pesticide chalk, a way of fighting cockroaches. See also this close-up.
